The early part of the NFL betting
season can be very dangerous to gamblers if they are
not careful. We want to remember some basic NFL betting
tips
for the early part of the season so that we are still
around at the end of the year.
First - Don't go crazy in the first
week with your NFL betting. It is so easy to do. It has
been a
very long time since your last NFL wager and every game
on the board looks so appealing. Remember that you will
have games next week too. It is a long season, don't
get carried away by the appeal of a new NFL betting season.
Second - Don't overreact to early
season results. Many times teams will come out of the
blocks slow and
everyone will be down on them. Remember that early season
results don't always equate to long-term success.
The reverse also applies. Teams that get off to hot starts
will not always keep that going. Just try and remember
that early season results don't always tell the
whole story. Keep the big picture in mind.
Third - Try and find an overrated or public team that
continues to lose. It seems to happen every year. The
public and the media fall in love with a team based on
preseason ratings and the team never plays up to that
billing. NFL betting can be profitable when you find
a team to go against on a weekly basis.
Fourth - When in doubt, play the underdog.
If you don't remember anything else in regards to NFL
betting, when
in doubt, take the dog. Favorites in NFL betting are
almost always overpriced because the public loves to
lay the points. You always get extra value by taking
the underdog.
I really can't emphasize enough the first
point. Don't let your emotions of a new NFL betting
season ruin your entire year in the first week. Every
game on the board will look like a sure thing in week
number one. They aren't. Remember to stay discipline
early in the NFL betting season and focus only on games
that you really feel strongly about. You may also want
to cut the size of your plays in half the first week
of the season just to be safe. It is better to be safe
than sorry early in the season. The NFL betting season
is a marathon; you want to be around for the finish.
