News | Citadel Signs 888 Payment Deal

Canada’s Citadel Commerce Corporation has announced a deal with Gibraltar-based 888 Holdings that will see it begin processing instant Internet banking transactions for the online casino operator.

Citadel is a subsidiary of Burnaby-based ESI Entertainment Systems Incorporated and stated that its new instant Internet banking service payment solution provides the capability for international consumers to securely pay for purchased items using their online bank account.

Consumers do this by logging into their own online bank account and securely initiating a payment directly to a Citadel-owned bank account. To make a payment, consumers can use a fully automated Payment Assistant or manually log in to their bank account and push funds to Citadel. They may also deposit cash at local bank branches that is then sent to Citadel.

'We have been testing Citadel's instant Internet bank transfers with some of our VIP customers and they have found the system to be very effective and easy to use,' said Gigi Levy, Chief Executive Officer for 888.

'We expect to continue to expand the rollout to more of our VIPs in additional countries and we have initiated efforts to fully integrate instant Internet banking into our main cashier pages.'

Citadel stated that its payment solution is a low cost alternative that supports an international base of banks without relying on a traditional infrastructure. It encompasses a ‘white-label’ payment interface that can be integrated directly into merchant sites along with a sophisticated and fully automated backend that supports and reconciles a large network of global bank accounts, handles foreign currencies and supports international treasury management functions.

“888 is extremely sophisticated and experienced with its payment options and with its feedback we will continue to expand our banking network and enhance the product,” said Michael Meeks, President for Citadel.
